Overview

POSITION:
Estimating and Client Development Lead

SHIFT: M-F 8am to 5pm (Varied Hour based on Business Demands)

PAY RATE: $65K - $72K+ (DOE) + Full Benefit Package

LOCATION:

Fargo, ND

Summary Of Responsibilities

The Estimating and Client Development Lead will actively pursue opportunities in the regional market, prepare detailed and accurate bids, maintain good relationships with existing TNS clients, foster new relationships with potential clients and assist the Construction Services General Manager as required.

Responsibilities
  • Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the True North Steel Game Changer definition.
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid invitations for Construction Services scopes.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and freight.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Fabrication, and Field teams to validate constructability and schedule assumptions.
  • Prepare proposals with clear inclusions/exclusions and maintain documentation for audit and handoff.
  • Find and develop new opportunities in regional markets
  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, and owners in the construction market.
  • Manage pipeline and quote activity in CRM; follow up on bids to clarify scope and close work at target margins.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms within company guidelines
  • Represent Construction Services at customer meetings and industry events.
  • Participate in pre-award meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
  • Perform manpower schedule updates, and ensure open hours are being reviewed and booked.
  • Collaborate with Construction Services General Manager to align on scope and schedule.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating standards and sales procedures.
  • Assist in future market growth opportunities for CS and other TNS products and services
  • Assist Construction Services GM with project management activities as needed.
  • Travel required to job sites and TNS sites, as needed.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Qualities
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial construction processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and documents.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, CRM).
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work well under multiple deadlines.
  • Strong decision-making and accountability traits.
Education And Work Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in construction related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in construction related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
