The Orange Design Team is a North American based and owned drafting community built by kitchen and bath people, for kitchen and bath people. We connect showrooms, builders, manufacturers, and rep firms with vetted, North American-based drafters who know cabinetry inside and out. You bring the skill & experience. We bring the clients, the structure, and a community of drafters. You take on the work you want, when you want it.

We're not looking for drafters who just "designed before." We're looking for drafters who have been in actual kitchens and spaces within homes, hung a cabinet, swept dirt or even snow away from corners to do that layout on the floor for a new home. Drafters who take real pride in a clean, accurate sets of drawings -- and reads the spec book before it bites them in the rear.

What you'll do

• Get hired to draft kitchen and bath projects -- plans, elevations, box counts, and project docs -- for real companies across the U.S. and Canada
• Work through our Drafter Handoff portal, where every project comes in with consistent, repeatable info so you can get to work fast
• Ask the right questions up front, hit your turnaround windows, and deliver work you'd put your name on
• Track your time and box counts per project (it's how you show your speed and accuracy -- think Moneyball data for drafters)
• Be a thought partner to the companies you work with, not just the person behind the keyboard.

What you need

• 5+ years drafting cabinetry in the kitchen and bath industry -- you've lived in showrooms, design-build, or on the install side and you know how a real project comes together
• A current license in your software of choice -- 2020 Design, and/or Sketch Up, Chief Architect, or Revit -- that you invest in for your own business
• Bring your skills!
• The instinct to catch what's missing (ceiling height, appliance clearances, finished ends) and ask before you draw, not after
• Strong communication and reliable follow-through -- companies rate every project, and so do you
• Reliable high-speed internet, your own computer, and a quiet space to work unless you draft better with Heavy metal on do that!
  
  We want the best, in your environment to produce the best results for American and Canadian companies in this business.

How it works

• 1099 independent -- you're your own business, we just provide the platform for connection and bring the projects to you
• Take on as much or as little as you want; a lot of our drafters do this part-time alongside a showroom or design-build role
• You set your rate and clock your time per project -- you're paid for the work you draft
• Level 1 and 2 projects run a three-business-day turnaround (we love beating it)
• Low monthly subscription(1 hour per month) to be part of the platform -- first 30 days free
• A real community: a network of experienced drafters across North America you can lean on, learn from, and grow with
