Position Overview
Reporting to the department chair and supervised by the dean of the college, the Tenure-Track Construction faculty will support the mission, purpose, and goals of City College at Montana State University Billings. Responsibilities include teaching up to 30 credits for the academic year of program specific and program-related coursework, collaborating with peer program instructors to ensure courses and curriculum meet student and business needs, academic advising of program students, retention and resource development activities, as well as delivering courses and teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities
A faculty member with expertise and experience in the construction field is critical to the sustainability and development of the construction management program.
This instructor will be expected to deliver instruction and lab experiences for the Construction Management and Construction Technology programs.
This instructor will be expected to participate in on-going outcome assessment.
This faculty member will participate in student advising.
To recruit and retain our students, this full-time faculty member holds a key position within the department and will be expected to participate in efforts to continually improve the delivery of programs and services for all the constituencies served by the college.
This faculty member will work with the Program Advisory Council to evaluate the program curriculum, and to propose curriculum changes to meet industry and student needs.
All faculty are expected to maintain a commitment to improvement of all services, programs, procedures, and interactions that employees have with students, family members, staff, faculty members, community partners, colleagues, and guests.
QUALITIES:
Required
High level of comfort in the digital environment across multiple specialized software platforms. Software platforms utilized in the classroom and lab environment include, but are not necessarily limited to Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, RS Means Online, OnScreen Takeoff, and others. Proficiency with these platforms, and other similar software packages needs to extend to the ability to provide instruction in their use and application.
Strong general construction work experience across multiple phases and types of construction including vertical construction, new and remodel, commercial and residential, public and private. Ability to design, plan, and execute appropriate hands-on lab projects demonstrating and providing practice in all phases of building construction from site work and concrete to framing, rough-ins, and interior and exterior finishing.
Maintain a properly equipped and appropriately supplied lab for up to 40 students, including maintaining tools and small equipment, purchasing and stocking consumables, and estimating and scheduling project materials. Ensure safe operation of the construction lab, including compliance with all necessary safety standards.
Expertise and experience with CSI Master Format, typical estimating and bidding practice, and other aspects of construction projects through the planning, preconstruction, construction, closeout, and warranty phases of projects.
Strong business management background with ability to provide appropriate instruction in same. This includes confidence in business management and accounting/bookkeeping platforms such as Quickbooks. Familiarity with multiple versions and applications including both desktop and cloud-based versions and Basic through Enterprise levels.
