TITLE:
Middle School Social Studies Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Valid Montana Teaching Certificate
* Bachelors degree in Education
* Successful teaching experience preferred

School Principal
SUPERVISES:

JOB GOAL:
To create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and the world of work in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):
* Teach the assigned courses utilizing the curriculum adopted by the School Board.
* Instruct and reinforce the teachings of the Catholic Church.
* Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, using varied instructional strategies in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
* Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
* Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
* Evaluate pupils’ academic growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare required reports.
* Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and to interpret the school program.
* Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils resolve health, attitude, and learning problems.
* Create an effective environment for learning, recognizing displays and bulletin boards, and enhance learning.
* Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided either by the District or through self-selected professional growth activities.
* Administer group standardized tests in accordance with District testing program.
* Participate in curriculum development and the selection of resources as requested.
* Participate in faculty committees and support pupil activities.
