Hiring in our Billings, MT or Helena, MT office

Job Overview

Works directly with Survey Department Manager to secure departmental work load and manage projects and clientele.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Procurement and execution of Land Survey projects.
  • Perform project estimates, proposals, and management.
  • Perform all necessary technical aspects of typical land survey projects, including prefield, field, and post processing tasks.
  • Perform all necessary technical aspects of typical construction staking projects.
  • Advanced knowledge and capabilities working with Geomatics software and hardware. Currently, this is specifically Trimble Business Center software and Trimble R “era” GNSS GPS and associated hardware.
  • Mentor land survey and appropriate staff.
  • Staff/resource management and logistical support to survey department.
  • Represent company professionalism, community mindedness, and reputation for excellence and fairness on a daily basis.
  • Strive for company and personal growth.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have proven the ability to effectively and consistently perform the above described essential functions.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor(PLS) in the state position is located:
    Montana and/or Wyoming.
  • Minimum of 4 years of land survey experience
Physical Demands (if any):

The ability to withstand sustained periods (all day) of being outside and endure Montana’s weather is essential.

Must be able to use a sledge hammer and carry heavy equipment such as GPS base station, RV battery, tripods, and equipment and supply bags.

Must be able to stand for sustained periods (all day) and have the ability to hike up and down steep grades and climb over fences.

Other physical duties include:

  • Loading and unloading survey equipment and supplies into and out of the back of a truck daily.
  • Loading, unloading, and operating a four-wheeler and utility terrain vehicle.
  • Part field, part office depending on project tasks and workload requirements.
  • Shared staff and resources.
  • Co‑workers with a common goal of continued improvement and growth.
