Outside Plant Inspector

Pearce provides technical maintenance, repair, operations, and engineering services for uninterruptible power supply systems, backup generators, battery energy storage, and critical cooling systems across renewable energy, telecom, and data center markets.

The OSP Inspector ensures the safety, quality, and compliance of outside plant (OSP) infrastructure. By inspecting aerial, underground, and buried plant facilities and validating contractor work against industry and client standards, this role supports network reliability, public safety, and regulatory compliance.

• Perform field inspections, audits, and corrections verification for OSP facilities (aerial, underground, buried).
• Conduct wooden pole ground‑line inspections and assess pole conditions for compliance.
• Verify contractor work complies with OSP Construction Standards and National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
• Document inspections, audits, and corrections electronically (and on printed spreadsheets when required).
• Use mapping and GPS tools to locate, track, and document facilities.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients via email and mobile phone.
• Track inspection progress, follow up on corrective actions, and escalates non‑compliance issues.
• Manage time, travel, and inspection schedules efficiently, including short‑notice travel.
• Support construction contractor oversight, ensuring corrective actions are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Previous experience performing NESC inspections or hands‑on experience working on an aerial cable line crew.
• Experience conducting wooden pole ground‑line inspections.
• Strong knowledge of OSP Construction Standards.
• Working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
• Proficiency with computers and basic office software:
  Windows, Excel 2003 or newer, Outlook, and internet/web systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven time management and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel on short notice.
• Experience inspecting underground and buried plant in addition to aerial facilities.
• Familiarity with mapping and GPS technologies; preferred experience with Microsoft MapPoint 2009 or newer.
• Demonstrated construction contractor management or oversight experience.
• Must be located within 2 hours of Billings or Great Falls, MT.

Base Pay Range: $30 - $32 USD
