Job Overview
AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Technician to join our team in Billings, MT. The role supports remediation system operation and maintenance and groundwater monitoring projects across the Montana region, with a focus on mechanical systems and environmental sampling.
Responsibilities- Manage data and track operating parameters.
- Perform routine fieldwork, including environmental multimedia sampling, operations, and equipment inspections, under close supervision during the first six months.
- Execute remediation system operation and maintenance activities, general equipment upkeep, groundwater monitoring, and accurate field data recording.
- Coordinate health and safety, inspect equipment and installations for compliance, maintain project documentation, and oversee subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER and other required safety training.
- Travel to work sites; overnight stays may be required up to one week per month.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Pass a pre‑employment physical, background check, and drug/alcohol screening; maintain ongoing medical surveillance and client‑specific drug/alcohol screening as required.
- Work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise, moisture, vibration, potential chemical hazards).
- Manual dexterity for repetitive bending, use of hand or power tools, and gripping tools/lever.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Strict compliance with safety requirements, including PPE (gloves, eye protection, safety‑toe shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, fire‑resistant clothing).
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, email, Teams).
- Mechanical skills and hands‑on experience with mechanical systems.
- Experience with environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, and waste).
- Experience with industrial health and safety programs.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training or current refresher preferred.
$20-$20 per hour.
