Tank Integrity Coordinator
The Opportunity Tank Integrity Coordinator at a growth-oriented energy company Competitive salary with a strong comprehensive benefits package Reporting to the Logistics Engineering and Integrity Manager, you'll be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Par Pacific's Mainland Logistics and Refinery Tank Integrity Program. Key activities include:
Program Development & Governance Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company-wide Tank Integrity Program in accordance with API 653, API 650, API 575, API 580/581, API 570, STI standards, and applicable regulations. Establish engineering and inspection standards for tank construction, repair, alteration, and maintenance. Develop risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies and inspection interval strategies. Standardize integrity management practices across all Logistics and Refinery tank farms.
Serve as technical authority for interpretation of tank-related codes and regulatory requirements.
Field Oversight & Execution Support Provide on-site oversight during:
Tank cleaning activities API 653 internal and external inspections Floor scans, UT, MFL, and NDE activities Repair scope development and execution Tank bottom replacements and shell repairs New tank construction Coating and lining applications Conduct field audits of tank farms and refinery tankage. Support failure investigations and metallurgical analyses. Verify quality control and ensure repair activities meet code and company standards.
Collaborate with site maintenance, operations, inspection, and engineering teams during outages.
Outage & Capital Planning Develop and manage company-wide tank outage schedules. Coordinate outage timing with site leadership and commercial teams to minimize operational impact. Prepare annual budget forecasts and long-term capital planning for tank integrity activities. Support cost estimation and lifecycle management of tank assets.
Contractor & Procurement Management Develop scopes of work for tank inspections, repairs, and construction. Lead or support RFP processes and contractor selection. Establish contracting strategies to reduce risk, improve quality, and control costs. Evaluate contractor performance and maintain preferred vendor relationships.
Data & Systems Management Develop and maintain centralized tank integrity databases. Integrate inspection data, corrosion data, GIS mapping, and tank history records. Develop PowerBI dashboards and reporting tools to track inspection status, compliance metrics, deficiencies, utilization, and budget performance. Monitor emerging technologies that improve inspection efficiency or reduce outage duration.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Environmental and Compliance teams to ensure tanks operate within permit limitations (air permits, SPCC, etc.). Support safety system implementation (e.g., high-level alarms, overfill protection). Lead and facilitate the Tank Integrity Network (TIN) to share lessons learned and best practices across Par Pacific locations. Provide technical training and mentoring to site-level personnel.
Qualifications To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering OR direct industry experience in tank integrity, inspection, or refinery/tank farm operations may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum 5 years of direct experience in storage tank integrity management, inspection, repair, or construction. Active API 653 certification. Demonstrated experience building, implementing, or significantly enhancing a tank integrity program. Working knowledge of: API 653 inspection requirements API 650 construction standards Above ground atmospheric storage tanks Tank farm operations within refinery or logistics environments Experience coordinating tank outages and inspection planning.
Familiarity with environmental and regulatory compliance requirements related to tank systems. Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms affecting storage tanks. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Understanding of PCMS application. Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card. Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Ability to reside and work full-time in Billings, Montana. Ability to travel 30–50% as required.
Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license. API 580/581 Risk-Based Inspection training or certification. Experience in multi-site tank integrity standardization. Experience in refinery operations. Familiarity with tank overfill protection systems and high-level alarm systems. Experience integrating inspection data into GIS platforms. Proficiency with SQL, PowerBI, ESRI GIS, FME, Python, or R. Experience managing multimillion-dollar tank outage budgets.…
