Gold Creek Engineering is seeking a motivated and skilled Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of electrical systems for upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial power distribution, electrical equipment and controls, and multidisciplinary project delivery. This position will develop technical deliverables, perform engineering calculations, coordinate with clients and project teams, and support projects from conceptual design through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical designs for well pads, compressor stations, tank batteries, gathering systems, and oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Prepare and review electrical deliverables, including one-line and three-line diagrams, power distribution plans, equipment layouts, grounding plans, lighting plans, cable and conduit schedules, wiring diagrams, load lists, and construction details.
  • Perform electrical calculations and studies, including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, cable and conduit sizing, grounding, and equipment sizing and selection.
  • Specify electrical equipment and materials such as transformers, switch gear, motor control centers, variable-frequency drives, generators, panels, cables, and grounding systems; prepare data sheets, requisitions, and bid packages as needed.
  • Apply hazardous-area classification requirements and support the development or review of area classification drawings for oil and gas facilities.
  • Use power-system analysis software such as ETAP or SKM Power Tools to develop designs and support engineering decisions.
  • Apply applicable codes and standards, including the NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and relevant client and industry requirements.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil/structural, instrumentation and controls, project management, clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve design issues and deliver coordinated work products.
  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, site walkdowns, and field verification efforts; document existing conditions and incorporate findings into project deliverables.
  • Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities by responding to technical questions, reviewing vendor information and submittals, and assisting with field issue resolution.
  • Check calculations and drawings, maintain organized project documentation, and complete assigned work in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Approximately 5–8 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably supporting upstream or midstream oil and gas facilities or similar industrial projects.
  • Working knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, electrical equipment, controls interfaces, and electrical design documentation.
  • Experience with power-system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and familiarity with NFPA, IEEE, and oil and gas industry standards and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, process, instrumentation, and vendor drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and technical writing skills, with careful attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work both independently and with guidance from senior engineers.
