The Opportunity

In this full-time, on-site role, the Licensed Addiction Counselor serves as a core member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. This position provides direct clinical services to adults participating in PHP and IOP programming, utilizing evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed practices. The Licensed Addiction Counselor plays a critical role in assessment, treatment planning, clinical documentation, and ongoing coordination of care to support sustained recovery outcomes.

What

You'll Do
  • Provide individual and group counseling services for clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, ASAM-aligned evaluations, and ongoing clinical reassessments
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized, recovery-oriented treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the treatment team
  • Facilitate psycho educational and process groups focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery capital
  • Provide crisis intervention and clinical support as needed within the scope of licensure and program protocols
  • Collaborate closely with medical, psychiatric, case management, and peer support staff to ensure integrated, coordinated care
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case consultations
  • Support care transitions, including step-down planning, discharge preparation, and coordination with external providers and referral sources
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in Kipu EMR in accordance with state regulations, payer requirements, and organizational standards
  • Uphold ethical standards, professional boundaries, and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Active Montana Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credential, in good standing
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, or a related field meeting Montana licensure requirements
  • Demonstrated competence in assessment, treatment planning, and group facilitation
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex client presentations
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered care
  • Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Montana behavioral health regulations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (Kipu experience preferred, not required)
  • Full-time, on-site availability in Billings, MT

Preferred

  • At least one year of clinical experience in substance use disorder treatment
Benefits

Compensation and Benefits: $52,500 to $67,500 annually, commensurate with experience, plus medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, public holidays, and maternity and paternity leave.
