Pathology Assistant LAB-HISTOLOGY (BILLINGS CLINIC HOSPITAL)Shift: Day
Employment Status:
Full-Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Exempt)

The Pathologist Assistant will provide anatomic pathology services under the clinical direction and supervision of a pathologist.
Responsibilities will primarily include gross examination of surgical pathology specimens and special procedures including tumor triage.
Essential Job Functions- Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
- Preparation of gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens including: (Patient Care
- Pathology
- Grossing)-Ensures specimens are accessioned appropriately and that patient identification is maintained throughout the process.
-Obtains appropriate clinical history, including scans, x-rays, laboratory and data and able to coordinate with pathological findings.
-Accurately describes and dictates the overall specimen dimensions, structures, size, appearance and relationship of disease present to pertinent anatomic structures and margins using appropriate terminology-Exercises judgement by preserving samples for testing analysis (flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry, etc.)-Ensures proper triaging and prioritizing of all pathology specimens-Photographing all pertinent gross specimens and microscopic slides-Performing duties relating to maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, reports and data, including the filing of reports, protocols, photographic and microscopic slides, assuring the completion of specimen coding and billing-Assuring proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite - Selectin…
