Department: pharmacy position title: pharmacy technician in training responsible to: pharmacist (s) exposure level: category iii exemption status: non-exempt__________________________________________________________________________summary:under direct supervision, fills routine dosage orders and prepackaged pharmaceuticals. Counts, packages, and labels unit doses for inspection by pharmacist and fills routine orders for non-prescription pharmaceuticals. Assists pharmacist in the dispensing of prescriptions and performs a range of staff support functions.essential job function: pharmacy responsibilities work under the provisions of a technician utilization plan approved by the board of pharmacy adhere to pharmacy state and federal laws and regulations complete and demonstrate competency of training checklist documents within 6 months of hireto provide quality support duties in the pharmacy.essential

* be gracious to each & every person essential job function: employee responsibilitiesbe registered with the montana board of pharmacy as a technician-in-training prior to the first day of employment in the pharmacy receive certification from the pharmacy technician certification board (ptcb), national health career association (excpt), or other board-approved certifying entity within montana board of pharmacy license expiration perform all job duties of a pharmacy technician, including, but not limited to, inventory management, prescription processing, medication packaging and labeling, non-sterile compounding, maintain pharmacy records, assist customers and practitioners, and assist the pharmacist at all times essential job function: other perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist and/or supervisor.supports

the growth and actively engages in eden alternative tasks.follows policy and procedures on annual tb testing.follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.attends all mandatory in-services works under the general supervision of the pharmacists successfully completes orientation and pharmacy departmental training requirements successfully completes all assigned educations and competencies requirements:minimum requirements:high school diploma or ged required. Must be at least 18 years old. Be in good standing with the office of inspector general knowledge, skills, and abilities required: knowledge and skills acquired through completion of high school.

Must be eligible for certification as a pharmacy technician. Certification  able to communicate and interact effectively in a professional manner. Must be computer literate with good word processing skills.ability to understand written and verbal communication. Ability to work independently. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with residents, family members, medical personnel, and coworkers. Ability to sort, check, and verify numbers.

Clerical, word processing, and other general computer skills. Ability to understand and follow safety policies and procedures.physical demands: requires moderate physical work, including lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 30 pounds occasionally, bending, standing, and reaching.working conditions: work involves minimal exposure to hazards, blood borne pathogens, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions normal health care environment work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment the examples of essential job functions identify the major duties and requirements for the performance of this job and do not identify all duties, responsibilities and requirements performed by positions in this class.
