IT Systems Analyst works within the Information Technology Bureau in the Montana Department of Corrections’ Director’s Office. This office provides critical support to the department’s executive team through communications, financial services, legal services, and human resources. The landscape of corrections is constantly evolving, and this team is at the forefront of managing this change on behalf of Montana citizens.

The IT Systems Analyst is a strategic leader responsible for aligning IT systems with organizational objectives. This role involves collaborating with managers to analyze, design, and implement system enhancements while ensuring data integrity.

Key responsibilities include consulting with managers to understand system needs, gathering and analyzing user requirements, working with business owners to expand or modify systems, researching new functionalities, conducting in-depth system testing, developing reports and data visualizations, designing user acceptance test plans, providing training to users, creating documentation, developing scripts for process automation, preparing cost-benefit analyses, overseeing installation, configuration, customization, and testing for new or updated systems, maintaining close collaboration with vendors, supporting budget planning for technology initiatives, evaluating and implementing technical tools, staying current on emerging technologies, and leading or managing systems analyst projects in the absence of a designated project manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• Three years of relevant experience

A total of five years of relevant experience may be substituted to meet these qualifications.

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
