Thrift Store Supervisor
Position SummaryThis position is essential to ensuring daily store and production operations are carried out appropriately. Meeting production goals, maintaining quality standards, supporting customer service, and helping direct staff are key parts of this position. The role assists with employee training, coaching, evaluations, and ensures donations and merchandise are handled properly. Maintaining a safety‑focused environment and providing staff support are critical to doing this job well.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Operations and staff oversight
- Oversee staff on the sales floor, in production, and in receiving areas to help ensure daily goals are met.
- Assist with quality assurance, customer service issue resolution, and cross‑department support as needed.
- Training and accountability
- Help train staff, monitor performance, and assist with employee evaluations and corrective feedback.
- Ensure work areas are safe, organized, and consistent with The Salvation Army standards.
- High school diploma or equivalency required; business coursework or degree preferred.
- Two or more years of retail, warehouse, or production experience required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Leadership, mentoring, and team coordination skills.
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities across production and sales functions.
- Strong work ethic; flexible and service‑oriented; reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused.
- Professional and courteous demeanor with donors; supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission.
- Ability to reflect and model the organization’s high standards.
- Driving
- May need to fill in for Driver in their absence.
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid in‑state driver’s license.
- Background check
- Continued employment contingent upon a biennial background check processed per Salvation Army policies.
- Physical
- Ability to access and use the POS, operate a telephone, and understand written information.
- Ability to maneuver, stand in a stationary position, grasp, push, pull, reach overhead, and lift 50–75 pounds; move large items, bend, reach, grasp, push, pull, perform repetitive motions, and stand for extended periods in a warehouse/production environment.
