Position Summary
The Thrift Store Production Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily processing of donated goods, ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and achievement of production goals. This role includes supervising and supporting production staff, pricing merchandise, organizing workflow, and coordinating with store leadership to maintain adequate inventory levels. The Production Lead ensures a clean, safe, and productive work environment while upholding The Salvation Army's mission and values.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Production
- Supervise, support, and guide production staff to ensure efficient workflow and task completion.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor progress toward production goals.
- Sort and evaluate donated goods for quality and resale suitability.
- Price merchandise in accordance with Salvation Army pricing guidelines.
- Ensure quality control standards are met across all processed goods.
- Maintain organized production, sorting, and storage areas.
- Track productivity levels and report progress to the Production Supervisor.
Warehousing and Safety
- Assist with training new production employees.
- Operate or oversee forklift operation (forklift certification preferred).
- Work collaboratively with retail staff to maintain adequate sales floor inventory.
- Follow all safety and operational procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in production, warehouse, or retail preferred.
- Forklift experience and/or certification preferred.
- Ability to organize workflow and manage time effectively.
- Basic math and pricing skills.
- Ability to lift 50-75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide constructive feedback to staff.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Organizational and time‑management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused.
- Professional and courteous demeanor with donors.
- Supportive of the Salvation Army's mission.
- Able to reflect and model the high standards of our organization.
Driving
- This position does require driving to fill in for Driver in their absence.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid in‑state Driver's License.
Background Check
- Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Physical
- Ability to maneuver, remain in a stationary position, grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
- Ability to lift 50-75 pounds, move large items, bend, reach, grasp, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods in a warehouse/production environment.
- Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. Requests to modify or adjust these requirements may be made to your supervisor and HR. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy reasonable requests that do not impose undue hardship.

- Sick leave: 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual begins at hire).
- Vacation: 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of 0.0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until completion of six months of employment).
- One floating day off, accrued immediately and annually (may not be used until completion of the initial three‑month introductory period).
- Pension Plan after one year of continuous service.
- Voluntary Tax‑Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b) plan).
Reports to:
Production Supervisor.
Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday–Saturday as set by the weekly schedule.
FLSA Status:
Full Time – non‑exempt.
Rate of Pay: $18 per hour.
Closing Date: 6/6/2026.
