Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations within a growing agricultural processing facility specializing in extracted humate products. This position is highly operational and mechanically focused, with primary responsibility for ensuring production forecasts are achieved while maximizing uptime and reliability of critical process equipment.
The Production Supervisor will oversee approximately 10 indirect reports and be responsible for coordinating production activities, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and helping advance a more proactive preventive maintenance culture. The ideal candidate is a working leader who understands manufacturing processes, can identify mechanical issues impacting throughput, and collaborates closely with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and improve overall plant performance.
The facility is currently expanding from 16 to 23 employees and operates two 12-hour shifts, seven days per week. The long-term objective is to transition toward a 5–6-day production schedule, allowing for 1–2 dedicated days each week for planned maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and production shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, and production targets are consistently achieved.
- Coordinate staffing, workflow, and shift priorities across a two-shift operation.
- Monitor production processes and equipment performance to identify issues affecting throughput and product quality.
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to troubleshoot production equipment, prioritize repairs, and support preventive maintenance initiatives.
- Support efforts to reduce unplanned downtime and improve overall equipment reliability.
- Assist with root cause investigations related to production interruptions and recurring equipment problems.
- Maintain production records, monitor operating metrics, and communicate plant performance to leadership.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the operation.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of production, operations, or manufacturing experience within chemical, agricultural, mineral processing, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to recognize and troubleshoot equipment issues affecting production.
- Experience working around spray dryers, thermal processing equipment, rotating equipment, pumps, conveyors, or bulk material handling systems preferred.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance concepts and coordinating maintenance activities within a production environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled production environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and access elevated platforms
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in hot, dusty, and industrial environments
