Role OverviewAs a Shipping/Receiving Lead you will deliver operational targets, lead an engaged warehouse team, and ensure the safety, quality, and continuous improvement of the 2nd shift (4pm to 2:30am). You will drive driving results, identify risks, coach root‑cause problem solving, coordinate resources, and communicate priorities across shifts.
Key Responsibilities- First line support: Resolve issues and missed targets in your area using 5‑Why Root Cause Analysis; report findings and recommend performance management or improvement actions.
- Cross‑training & coaching: Teach staff to work as a team and individually; review daily and weekly goals with associates; manage communication through one‑on‑ones, huddles, and meetings.
- Daily operations: Prioritize and execute day‑to‑day activities; coordinate interactions between your area, other shifts, and plant departments.
- Compliance & safety: Enforce safety, housekeeping, and plant standards; conduct daily audit checks using standardized work sheets to identify and correct issues.
- Administrative oversight: Manage Kronos timekeeping, time‑off requests, and overtime compliance.
- Information flow: Input data into MRP (Blue screen); review paperwork; analyze errors and opportunities; oversee improvement initiatives.
- Change management: Lead kaizen projects and process improvements within jurisdiction.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Simpson Strong‑Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification (provided upon hire).
- Five years of related manufacturing experience or training.
- Preferred:
Two years of leadership or management experience. - Basic math and measurement skills: algebra, geometry, tape measures to 1/32″, combination squares to ±1°, micrometer use, and blueprint reading.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts (WIP elimination, continuous improvement, 6S, Kaizen, Kanban).
- Strong interpersonal, listening, speaking, and reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in problem solving and critical thinking.
The role requires standing, walking, seeing, talking, and hearing; occasional sitting. Employees must lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50lb., and use equipment that requires positioning. The work environment contains moving machinery and noise levels can be loud.
Work EnvironmentThe position involves exposure to dust, heat or cold, wet or humid conditions, and the use of personal protective equipment as required. Travel is not required.
Location & ScheduleFull‑time, non‑exempt position located in Billings, MT. 2nd shift: 4:00pm to 2:30am (fall into the 4pm–2:30am window).
CompensationHourly rate: $28.46 – $45.53, depending on experience and location.
