Position: Surgery Center RN - OR Circulator (Per-Diem)

Overview

Surgery Center RN - OR Circulator (Per-Diem). The successful candidate will facilitate patient flow and throughput while maintaining high-quality care in line with national nursing standards, legal requirements and Surgery Center policies and procedures. Duties cover operating room, pre-operative, and post-operative care including both Phase I and Phase II recovery.

Surgery Center RN - OR Circulator (Per-Diem)

Location: Surgery Center (Billings Clinic Surgery Center)

Shift: Varies

Employment Status: Per Diem

Hours per Pay Period: 0.01 = per diem (as needed) (Non-Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $37.11 - $46.39

Essential Job Functions
  • Directs all nursing activities relating to procedures; assesses patient needs and provides care before, during and after surgery; maintains complete and accurate records; communicates with the health care team to ensure quality care throughout the patient’s experience.
  • Educates patients during all phases of care; ensures informed consent is completed prior to sedation.
  • Prepares procedure records; reconciles medication history; reviews diagnostic tests and laboratory results to identify contraindications.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies; operates and troubleshoots equipment; manages inventory; assists with cleaning and restocking of operating rooms; participates in crash cart maintenance and defibrillator checks.
  • Provides oversight and direction to other Surgical Center personnel; participates in orientation and staff development; pursues ongoing professional growth and mandatory trainings.
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards; maintains patient safety standards; identifies and mitigates safety risks in the Surgery Center.
  • Incorporates Magnetism principles to enhance nursing care quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet Center needs (including Pre-Op/Post-Op/PAT Lab).
  • Administers drugs and IV procedures safely; initiates orders and follows anesthesia protocol; maintains ACLS.
  • Labels specimens and prepares them for the laboratory; participates in operating room setup and turnover; assists with sterile technique and instrument handling.
  • Assists in patient transfer to and from the operating room and recovery; supports transport and recovery workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience:

    One (1) year of operating room experience is desired; critical care experience preferred for PACU Phase I.
  • Education:

    Associate (or Diploma) RN; those with less than 5 years of RN experience must commit to completing a Bachelor of Nursing degree within 4 years of hire date.
  • Certifications and Licenses:
    Current Montana RN license.
