Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Non-Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $30.53 - 38.16

The Workplace Violence (WPV) Program Specialist is a de-escalation expert who works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Billings Clinic, its affiliates, and extends to other organizations developing and implementing evidence-based practices that support teams and individuals in reducing/preventing workplace violence. The Workplace Violence Program Specialist oversees the Workplace Violence Prevention Team and all subcommittees work. This individual partners with the Magnet and Safety and Emergency Management Manager(s)/Director(s) to ensure proper reporting, continued accreditation, and alignment with Billings Clinic's Nursing and organizational strategic plans.

Essential Job Functions

* Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.

* Champions and exemplifies behaviors that align with the mission, vision, and values of Billings Clinic and the department/service line.

* Serves as a clinical leader and role model, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence in patient care.

* Provides strategic oversight of WPV prevention initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and evidence-based practices.

* Leads comprehensive reviews and documentation of WPV Safety Net events, ensuring timely follow-up, root cause analysis, and mitigation planning.

* Facilitates WPV Prevention Team meetings and actively participates in subgroup initiatives to support system-wide safety improvements.

* Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) Program - Develops, implements, and evaluates the BERT or equivalent behavioral response program, ensuring clinical effectiveness, staff readiness, and patient-centered outcomes.

* Oversees team structure, training, deployment, and performance metrics; reports trends and outcomes to nursing and operational leadership.

* Conducts proactive rounding on high-risk patients/families, applying clinical judgment to anticipate and de-escalate behavioral health concerns.

* Maintains documentation and data to support Magnet designation and re-designation efforts.

* Engages frontline nursing staff in shared governance and continuous improvement processes.

* Designs and delivers education based on staff feedback, clinical trends, and Magnet standards.

* Performs in-depth clinical chart reviews of safety events to identify WPV-related behavioral patterns and care implications.

* Documents clinical rationale for WPV mitigation strategies and ensures compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.

* Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to embed WPV prevention into the broader organizational safety framework.
