RN Hospital - Inpatient Medical (0.9 FTE)

Billings Clinic, a community‑owned, not‑for‑profit health system in Billings, Montana, seeks a Registered Nurse for our inpatient medical unit. This is a full‑time (0.9 FTE) position scheduled for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts (72 hours every two weeks).

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the RN will utilize the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide evidence‑based, holistic patient care. The RN will promote and maintain health and quality outcomes while maintaining professional accountability and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use a holistic approach and evidence‑based nursing practices to incorporate the nursing process into a goal‑directed plan of care for the patient; collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to execute an appropriate plan of care.
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely entry into the patient medical record as indicated by patient condition and departmental documentation guidelines.
  • Adhere to Billings Clinic safety standards, policies, and practices; anticipate and identify problems and safety issues, then initiate appropriate action.
  • Maintain appropriate skill and knowledge and apply relevant equipment specific to the area, pharmacology, and laboratory values based on disease process or physiological status.
  • Utilize evidence‑based practice supported by nursing research within the specialty area.
  • Apply performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient/resident care, incorporating the Magnet Model to transform the work environment and nursing care quality.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional growth and development needs; meet all system/departmental educational requirements.
  • Demonstrate collaborative, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patients’ families, visitors, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Consider appropriateness of care based on population‑specific needs of the patient.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education
    • Minimum Associate Degree, ASN.
    • ASN RNs with less than 5 years of RN experience must commit to completing a Bachelor of Nursing degree within four years after hire;
      Billings Clinic will provide financial assistance.
    • Preferred Bachelor of Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience
    • Relevant nursing experience in inpatient medical or related area.
    • Demonstrated progressively more responsible duties and/or previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certifications and Licenses
    • Current Montana state license as Registered Nurse at hire.
    • Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
    • ACLS certification preferred or ability to complete ACLS training within one year of hire.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting wage DOE: $38.91 - 61.21.
