NP Per Diem – Psychiatric Hospitalist

Position:
Psychiatric Hospitalist (Billings Clinic Main Campus)

Shift: Varies

Employment Status:
Per Diem

Hours per Pay Period: 0.01 (Exempt)

Starting Wage: DOE

Essential Job Functions
  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and the department/service.
  • Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examinations, compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examinations.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as X‑ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriate, and differentiates between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, including injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management within the scope of licensure and the supervising physician’s expertise.
  • Formulates diagnoses, develops, implements, and monitors patient‑care plans, records progress notes, and assists in continuity of care; confers with the supervising physician as necessary.
  • Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Refers patients to other health care providers and appropriate sources of care as necessary.
  • Participates in on‑call rotations and off‑hour rounding as it pertains to the specific department.
  • Identifies personal development needs and sets growth goals; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements; acquires knowledge and skills essential to practice new evaluation and treatment modalities.
  • Utilizes performance‑improvement principles to assess and enhance quality; participates in program development and marketing of the service line.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and external agency environmental, employee, or patient‑safety standards relevant to job performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet departmental and organizational needs.
Additional Requirement

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required for consideration.

Minimum Qualifications Education for Nurse Practitioners
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Current Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with a current Montana and/or Wyoming Board of Nursing license as an advanced practice nurse.
  • Current Montana and/or Wyoming license as a Registered Nurse as appropriate to the service area.
  • Additional unit‑specific requirements are listed above.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Healthcare Provider CPR Certification; additional CPR certifications may be required depending on the patient population and/or service area.
