Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a variety of delegated nursing tasks and participates in patient care within their Scope of Practice, guided by registered nurses, licensed physicians, or other specified health care professionals.

Nights.

• Assists with admission and check‑in process, including orienting patients and completing necessary forms.
• Prepares and administers medications within scope of practice, and assists with patient activities of daily living, preparing them for medical or surgical interventions.
• Obtains and tracks specimens for laboratory analysis, documents patient care, interventions, and updates care plans accurately and timely.
• Communicates with supervisory RN, physicians, or licensed independent practitioners regarding patient care and changes in condition, and participates in patient education about health status, maintenance, and management of conditions.
• Follows legal and ethical standards, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, accurate documentation, participates in quality improvement projects, and may act as a mentor or trainer to other staff if required.

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in state of practice.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS‑HCP) certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if applicable to unit.
• May require IV certification as required by facility. Colorado sites:
  Current or obtain IV certification in state of practice within three months of hire. Montana sites: complete in‑house education and competency sign‑off within three months of hire.
• LPNs hired into hospital departments that do not include a long‑term care or behavioral health setting must enroll and complete their RN within four years.

• One year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting.
• One year specialty clinic experience.

• Need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs.
• Must communicate verbally and listen rapidly in emergency situations.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and frequent computer use.
• Ability to lift, transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies up to heavy weights.
• Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and handling supplies, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• May be required to stand for extended periods.
• Roles requiring driving:
  Must drive a vehicle and interpret signs, traffic signals.

Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital, Billings, Montana.

Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Hourly rate: $26.74 – $41.28, depending on experience.
