Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations. The role includes determination of donor eligibility, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and notification of donors about unsuitable results.

• Determine donor eligibility: manage informed consent, provide AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, conduct medical history interview, oversee acceptance requirements, perform physical examination, conduct blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions during the facility visit as outlined in standard operating procedures (SOPs) and follow SOPs for medical emergencies.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance regarding medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health or employee relations is required; refer to EHS guidance for employee incidents.
• When authorized by EHS, serve as Pandemic Coordinator and support investigations related to local pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: EMT‑Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Successfully complete the FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 - $33.44. U.S. employees may accrue up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year and new hires may accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
