Description:

This position is not for novice or entry-level RNs. Qualified candidates must have experience with high-acuity patients. The role involves floating primarily within the Critical Care Division, with potential to float to other units based on census needs. Weekend coverage requirements will vary according to unit needs. Patient ratios are expected to be 2:1 for both days and nights. The daily census will be approximately 26 patients.

The unit sees a variety of patient diagnoses, including ARDS, sepsis, trauma, and general surgery. Experience with trauma level I is required, while trauma level II experience is preferred. Candidates should possess skills in managing ventilated patients, blood product administration, and central line care/management. Ability to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure is crucial. Experience in the medical and surgical intensive care units is necessary.

The department includes both medical and surgical/trauma/neurosurgical ICUs with a focus on high-acuity cases. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and more. Special procedures and equipment used in the ICU may include CRRT, ECMO, and IABP.
