DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU and/or SICU experience with high-acuity trauma, neuro, and surgical patients at a Trauma Level I facility.
Details- Work in the Surgical ICU (SICU) of a hospital environment
- Care for complex, high-acuity medical and trauma/neuro/surgical ICU patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Block scheduling for day/night shifts will be considered
- Floating required primarily within the Critical Care Division, with additional floating to other units as census needs dictate
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Cerner charting system experience preferred
- Active RN license (Montana or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in specialty required
- MICU and/or SICU experience required; float pool-only experience does not meet the requirements of this role
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/Lipids administration
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients required
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias required
- Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, post-craniotomy, and post-neurosurgery patient care required
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation required
- References required for consideration
- Provide independent, competent nursing care for complex, high-acuity ICU patients including trauma, neuro, and surgical cases
- Responsibilities may include managing patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, GI surgery complications, and liver failure
- Additional skills such as CRRT/CVVHD, IABP management, EVD/ICP monitoring, and massive transfusion protocol are valued
- Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility for consideration
- Local candidates within the radius will not be accepted at the travel rate
- Former permanent employees must have taken a 2-year break in service to be eligible
- Case-by-case approval may be granted for candidates with license or background history
