The Manager of Surgical Services provides nursing leadership for the development, advancement, and delivery of perioperative nursing practice within Surgical Services. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and managing departmental operations and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care on a 24/7 basis. The Manager ensures compliance with AORN standards, corporate policies, and all applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements, while overseeing operational and fiscal management, resource utilization, supplies, and equipment.

The Manager is accountable for the quality of services provided, as well as short- and long-term planning aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.

The Manager hires, orients, and supports the professional development of clinical staff through competency assessment, coaching, and performance feedback. This role promotes collaboration and effective communication with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and key stakeholders to support safe, efficient perioperative care and continuous improvement. The Manager actively participates in departmental growth initiatives, supports the professional practice model through the Surgical Services Executive Committee, and fosters a respectful, customer-focused environment through effective leadership, conflict resolution, and change management.
