Travel RN - Med​/Surg Tele

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience and Trauma Level II experience.

• Active RN license (MT or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• At least one prior travel contract required; first-time travelers will not be considered for this float unit
• Certifications required: BLS; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activation required
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (without titration) required
• References required for consideration

• Observation unit caring for chest pain rule-out patients
• Supports the ED by holding patients when the hospital is at capacity
• Frequently cares for cardiac and telemetry patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• No floating required unless otherwise agreed upon during interview or offer
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required
• Provide care for observation patients, including chest pain rule-out and cardiac cases
• Support the ED during periods of patient holding
• Must reside within a 75-mile radius; local candidates will not be accepted
• Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in employment before being eligible
• Candidates with license or background check hits may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this float unit
