American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring 2 years of Med/Surg experience and a MT or compact RN license.
Details- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital environment
- Cares for patients with neuro/ortho conditions including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and total joint replacement
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
- Requires working some weekends and holidays
- 13-week contract length
- Active RN license (MT or Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and PICC line management
- Experience with peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, and wound care/wound vac
- Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE
- Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters and surgical drains
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and use of rapid response/code teams
- Experience with non-invasive airway management, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- References required for consideration
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care with a focus on neurological, orthopedic, and cardiac patient needs
- Candidates with strong neuro or ortho experience are welcome even without full travel experience
- No floating to affiliate hospitals unless otherwise agreed upon during interview or offer
- Must reside within a 75-mile radius for consideration; local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before being eligible
- Holiday coverage required as part of the assignment
