American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring Level II Trauma experience and prior travel contract experience.

• Work in the MS/Tele unit, functioning as an observation unit for chest pain rule-out patients
• Supports the ED by holding patients when the hospital is at capacity, often involving cardiac patients
• Cardiac and telemetry experience emphasized due to patient population
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• No floating required unless otherwise agreed upon during interview or offer
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

• Active MT or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
• Level II Trauma experience required;
  Level I Trauma experience preferred
• At least one prior travel contract required, no first-time travelers accepted for this float unit
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration required
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
• References required for consideration

• Manage chest pain rule-out and cardiac patients within an observation unit setting
• Support emergency department overflow by holding patients as needed
• Skilled in wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and observation patient management
• Experience with cardiac drips and vasoactive drips (management, not titration) preferred
• Experience with thrombolytic agents and procedural sedation monitoring preferred
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates not accepted
• Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before eligibility
• Case-by-case approval considered for candidates with license or background check history
