American Traveler is hiring an experienced SICU RN for a Level I Trauma Center, requiring MICU/SICU experience and MT or compact RN license.
Details- Surgical ICU setting caring for high-acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical patients
- Level I Trauma Center with Level II trauma experience preferred
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30), with block scheduling for day/night shifts considered
- Floating primarily within the Critical Care Division, with occasional floating to other units based on census needs
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Cerner charting system preferred
- Active RN license (MT or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of MICU and/or SICU experience required; float pool-only experience does not meet requirements
- This is not an entry-level position and requires independent, competent care of complex, high-acuity ICU patients
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids administration
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
- Experience managing CVVHD/CRRT, AKI, and chronic/acute renal failure
- Experience with CVA/stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD, and post-neurosurgical care preferred
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering IV insulin protocols
- Previous charge experience preferred
- References required for consideration
- Provide advanced critical care nursing to complex trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
- Perform continuous monitoring and management of hemodynamic, respiratory, and neurological status
- Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and management of fresh tracheostomies
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and respiratory failure
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius to be eligible for travel consideration
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before returning
- Candidates with license or background check history may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers are not preferred, given the specialized skill level required
