American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU and/or SICU experience at a Level I Trauma Center.
Details- Surgical ICU (SICU) unit within a hospital setting
- Cares for complex, high-acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (19:00-07:30), with block scheduling considered for day/night shifts
- Floats primarily within the Critical Care Division, with occasional floating to other units based on census needs
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Cerner charting system experience preferred
- Active RN license (MT or Compact) currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in specialty required
- MICU and/or SICU experience required; float pool-only experience does not meet requirements
- Level I Trauma Center experience required;
Level II preferred - Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- References required for consideration
- Provide independent, competent care for high-acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
- Perform advanced procedures including CVVHD/CRRT, IABP support, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Manage neurological cases including EVDs, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
- Administer continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and emergency medications as needed
- Must reside within 75 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Prior permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before returning
- Background history with license or background hits may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Not suited for novice or entry-level RNs; independent critical care competency required
