Quality Assembly Supervisor

The Quality Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the assembly team while ensuring products are built safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This role provides hands-on leadership by coordinating production activities, coaching team members, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and partnering with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to drive first-time quality and on-time delivery.

More specifically, the Quality Assembly Supervisor will:

  • Lead and promote a culture of safety by proactively identifying hazards, coaching safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise daily assembly operations to achieve production schedules while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
  • Coordinate daily production priorities with Team Leads, Production Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Conduct daily startup meetings to communicate production goals, work assignments, safety topics, quality concerns, and operational updates.
  • Monitor workflow throughout the shift and adjust staffing or priorities to meet production demands.
  • Perform and oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components, subassemblies, and finished equipment to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Evaluate the quality of work performed by team members and provide coaching to ensure consistent workmanship and adherence to company standards.
  • Ensure nonconforming materials and products are properly identified, documented, segregated, and processed according to established procedures.
  • Investigate quality concerns, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and GD&T requirements to support production and inspection activities.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection instruments to verify product conformance.
  • Ensure inspection results, nonconformances, production documentation, and quality records are accurately maintained within ERP and Quality Management Systems.
  • Initiate and support Nonconforming Material Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct or oversee first article inspections and validation of new or revised products, processes, and engineering changes.
  • Support supplier quality activities by reviewing incoming materials, documenting supplier issues, and coordinating corrective actions when required.
  • Maintain calibration status of inspection equipment and ensure measurement tools remain accurate and compliant with established procedures.
  • Serve as the primary resource for assembly personnel regarding engineering questions, parts issues, work instructions, and quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve production and quality issues quickly and effectively.
  • Monitor production, quality, and labor performance metrics while identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Train, mentor, and develop employees on assembly processes, quality standards, inspection techniques, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Provide input into employee performance evaluations and participate in coaching, disciplinary actions, and employee development planning.
  • Ensure work instructions, engineering drawings, routings, work orders, and production documentation remain current and properly maintained.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and 5S principles.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
