Job Description
This full-time contract role focuses on providing environmental field support at a refinery, ensuring safe operations and regulatory compliance. Collect and manage environmental samples, supports waste management activities, and oversees cleanup efforts to maintain a safe and compliant plant environment.
Responsibilities
- Collect environmental samples in the field according to established safety and quality procedures.
- Deliver collected samples to the laboratory in a timely and compliant manner.
- Maintain and prepare sample kits for special environmental projects to ensure readiness for field activities.
- Maintain accurate waste management data and provide oversight of waste handling and tracking processes.
- Conduct routine environmental inspections throughout the refinery to identify potential hazards or compliance issues.
- Perform walkthroughs of the plant to monitor environmental and safety conditions and report findings.
- Oversee cleanup activities and spill response at the plant, ensuring proper procedures and documentation.
- Use and maintain laboratory and sampling equipment in accordance with safety and QA/QC standards.
- Document inspection results, sampling activities, and corrective actions clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with plant personnel to support continuous improvement in environmental safety practices.
Essential Skills
- Experience in field environmental safety at a refinery.
- Hands-on experience with environmental sampling and sample collection procedures.
- Ability to operate and maintain laboratory and sampling equipment safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of QA/QC practices related to environmental sampling and data integrity.
- Experience conducting environmental inspections in an industrial or refinery setting.
- Strong attention to detail when handling samples, documentation, and waste management data.
- Ability to oversee cleanup and spill response activities in a plant environment.
- Effective communication skills to report findings and coordinate with plant personnel.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain sample kits, records, and inspection schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with refinery operations and associated environmental risks.
- Ability to interpret and follow environmental and safety procedures and guidelines.
- Comfort working in a field-based role within an industrial facility.
- Capability to prioritize tasks and respond promptly to environmental incidents.
Work Environment
This role is based on-site at a refinery and involves regular work in field and plant areas. The Coordinator frequently moves between outdoor and indoor locations to collect samples, conduct inspections, perform walkthroughs, and oversee cleanup and spill response activities. The position requires working around operational equipment, environmental sampling tools, and laboratory-related equipment. The work schedule is full time and may involve varying conditions typical of an industrial facility, including noise, changing weather conditions, and the need to follow established safety procedures and appropriate protective attire.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Billings, MT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
