Job Description
Sales success does not happen without strong customer support. The Inland Northwest Distribution Business is looking for a candidate excited to turn sales opportunities into real revenue. This intermediate customer support role interacts daily with sales and/or long‑term and potential new customers. The candidate collaborates with a team of sales professionals and supports a larger sales team in a specific Wood Products business.
They possess product knowledge and broad knowledge of customers, company procedures, products, pricing, and services and can assist with most to all order entry. They work with the Customer Service team to ensure high quality customer service and support. This is a sales position that will primarily support the Inland Northwest market from the Billings Distribution Center.
- Enter orders or assist individual sellers in order file management by ensuring orders are received, priced accurately, shipped and invoiced in an accurate and timely manner using sales tools/SAP effectively. Assist with most order entry from simple to complex, guiding only the more complicated or unique issues.
- Act as point of contact for customers, taking ownership of interactions. Troubleshoot simple to complex customer orders and problems, escalating appropriately and guiding only the more complex or unique issues. Resolve customer issues in a timely manner with few errors. Effectively submit new customer requests through SAP transaction (MDG).
- Use broad knowledge of customers, procedures, products, and services, demonstrating competency to build rapport, provide customer service and meet customer needs.
- Develop basic knowledge, relationships and position of influence to proactively promote full range of products to established and prospective customers.
- Execute promotions, specials, market pull‑through activities, and updates to products/pricing/service.
- Collaborate to build and maintain strong relationships with peers, coworkers, internal/external customers, and broader team members and resources.
- Coach less experienced team members and assist in some training.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills including written and verbal (face to face and over the phone).
- Working knowledge of SAP, ASCEND and other customer services tools and enterprise systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency including Office, Excel, Word, and web‑based programs.
- Track record of actively seeking out and using technology to help solve problems and gain efficiencies.
- Demonstrated competency and knowledge of products, pricing and customers.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work in a highly organized manner. Proven accuracy/attention to detail with data and information.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong and effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and data‑driven decision making.
Minimum HS Diploma/GED. 3‑5 years building products or industry experience in a customer‑service related field OR 1+ years of successful experience in Wyoming.
Compensation & BenefitsEligible for annual merit‑increase program; salary range $50,000 – $75,000 based on skills, qualifications and experience. Also eligible for Annual Incentive Program offering cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay; potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
