Level 2 Installers
Level 2 installers must have, or be able to obtain, a Real Passport for nationwide air travel.
Requirements include:
- Minimum of 2 years accumulated experience, or equivalent proficiency in the system being worked on, or hold a Certificate of Completion from a training facility.
- Capable of performing work operations such as addition or removal of systems equipment hardware, wiring and connections, lead verification/continuity testing, analysis of job specifications and drawings, and more.
- Must be able to perform as the Installation Supplier's in-charge person on Common Systems jobs.
- Must understand and know how to use Microsoft programs and applications on a PC and smart device.
- Must understand Ethernet and Serial connection requirements and be able to establish PC to Network Elements communications.
- Must have a smart phone with picture capabilities and the ability to place applications used for work.
- Must have a smart phone with "Mobile Hotspot" capabilities and the ability to establish smart phone to PC connections for remote support.
- Must be able to work alone and with others in a fast-paced schedule.
- Must be able to take direction and constructive criticism.
- Must be able to think freely and overcome complex issues.
- Must be able to learn to run scripts and commands for test and turn-up of equipment.
- Must be able to learn company and customer programs for data collection.
- Must have the ability to fly and ability to travel 100% for 3 consecutive weeks or more with field breaks as the company needs allow.
- Must pass criminal and drug tests to gain access badging from the telco customer.
- Must be able to interface politely with the customer using proper work ethics and etiquette while working under pressure.
- Must have the ability and aptitude to meet customer start and stop working hours.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
- Must have their own telecom insulated hand tools.
- Understanding of proper cabling installation and protection techniques.
- Understanding of industry standards for securing cables using waxed 9-cord and Velcro.
- Understanding of proper fiber types, ends, jumper/JPOI handling and protection.
- Understanding of proper fiber cleaning and scoping techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of DWDM, OME long haul, short haul, up to 100G circuits.
- Knowledge and understanding of mounting equipment in customer central offices, colocation areas, huts, and outdoor enclosures.
- Ability to make and test Cat-5/6 cables straight and crossover.
- Ability to see, understand, and work with telecom color codes and wire wrap paired cable.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents, customer best practices, and manufacturer technical practices.
- Knowledge of AC and DC power including power bays, verifying and installing
-48V and return leads while protecting live circuits, and more. - Knowledge of Telcordia GR1275 industry installation standards.
- Telco equipment manufacturer and customer knowledge is a plus.
