Job Description
The HVAC technician is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires significant experience in HVAC maintenance, repair, or installation. The HVAC Technician II will preferably be actively pursuing a formal licensure or working in a formal apprenticeship. Regardless of specialty, an HVAC Technician II may be required to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects.
ScheduleMonday–Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm with some on‑call required.
CompensationHourly range: $26.41 – $40.17 (actual hourly rate depends on experience).
Essential Functions- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Perform routine to moderately complex maintenance and inspections, diagnosing and repairing issues to ensure all systems operate efficiently and effectively.
- Work with a variety of systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, and control systems.
- Work with little supervision or minimal support from outside contractors.

- Experience as an HVAC technician.
- Demonstrated ability in the skills listed above.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication of spoken information and quick, accurate issue resolution.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer, phone, and cable setup.
- Expected to lift and maneuver equipment, working on hands and knees, bending, setting up, troubleshooting, lifting, and carrying supplies. Items may vary in weight, including heavy items.
- For roles requiring driving:
Expected to drive a vehicle, requiring sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. - Will routinely bend, lift, stoop, crawl, lay, sit, walk, and climb.
- Use of hand and power tools, with proper use of hearing and eye protection.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, noisy or constricted spaces, and odors and smells.
