As a General Facilities Maintenance Technician at our local retail store, your role will involve executing routine maintenance tasks to uphold the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart stores, equipment, or fixtures. You will operate under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager, adhere to established maintenance schedules and guidelines, and conduct inspections, cleaning, and repairs of facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using multiple craft skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and appropriate tools.
- Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair work orders and support store associates; document repair activities.
- Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
- Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
- Complete all required training to operate equipment and tools safely.
- 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Can lift up to 50 lbs. and move up and down ladders frequently.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying temperatures.
- Able to sit or stand for long periods.
- Hold a valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass an MVR report.
- Vocational or Technical certification and 1 year of experience, or 2 years of total work experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related trade.
- Vocational or Technical certification and 3 years of experience (or 5 years) in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related trade.
- Valid driver’s license; eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Completion of a 2‑year Vocational or Technical trade program.
- License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
- Intermediate proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
