Trailer Technician 2nd Shift Noon Start Time

Job Summary

Repair company equipment in a safe, timely, cost‑effective and practical manner including performing preventative maintenance, general repairs, troubleshooting and electronic diagnostics.

• Build, rebuild and repair all parts of company equipment as required.
• Diagnose any mechanical, electrical or other breakdown or failure of motor trucks or related equipment.
• Read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools.
• Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of component parts and systems on trucks, truck tractors, trailers or converter dollies (may not apply to body and frame specialists).
• Use welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete truck repairs when applicable.
• For converter dollies, weld horizontally and vertically without air pockets in the bead.
• Apply knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned to meet company needs.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience as a maintenance technician or similar automotive/truck repair background.
• Experience with truck repair, body and frame repair.
• Must provide own tools to perform job duties.
• Ability to complete required paperwork and records.
• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License when required.
• Working knowledge of systems located on trucks, truck tractors, semi‑trailers or converter dollies.
• Proficient at reading precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators and other diagnostic tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of component parts and systems.
• Knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Willingness to participate in training classes offered and attend when required, including shift changes.
• Willing to take written and/or oral tests as requested by management.
• Consistently maintain superior customer relations in accordance with company policy.
• Willing to serve on any piece of rolling stock and related equipment as directed.

• Must be able to sit 10% of time on stools, ground and other surfaces.
• Must spend 5–7 days per week, up to 8–10 hours per shift standing on non‑forgiving surfaces.
• Must walk up to 8 hours a day on non‑forgiving surfaces.
• Must frequently bend, squat, or kneel to access engine components.
• Must climb onto and off truck cabins or forklifts many times during the day.
• Must load and unload trailers or move materials in boxes across the shop.
• Must lift and handle objects weighing up to 100lb using OSHA‑approved techniques.
• Must reach into tight spaces to access engine components.
• Must hear forklifts, trucks, and instructions shouted in noisy environments.
• Must use hands with dexterity to operate tools, tighten bolts, remove parts, etc.
• Must work shifts that may include extreme heat or cold, noise, odors, and variable lighting.

• Exposure to enclosed vehicles and trailers while performing inspections or repairs.
• Work may occur outdoors under all weather conditions.
• Noise levels vary from quiet to loud; lighting may be bright or low.
• May interact with other employees regularly while maintaining safety.
