This role focuses on the disassembly, inspection, repair, and rebuilding of hydraulic cylinders used in mining equipment. You will use a variety of hand, power, and pneumatic tools, interpret basic blueprints and schematics, and perform testing and troubleshooting to ensure all rebuilt cylinders operate correctly. The position also includes daily data entry of work performed and requires the ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds.
Responsibilities- Disassemble incoming cylinders from mining equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect all disassembled parts to identify wear, damage, and components that require repair or replacement.
- Rebuild cylinders using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools according to specifications.
- Read and interpret basic blueprints and schematics to guide assembly, repair, and testing activities.
- Test and troubleshoot finished cylinders to verify proper operation and identify any issues that require adjustment or rework.
- Document and enter all daily activities, including work performed and parts used, into the company database.
- Handle and move parts and equipment, including lifting items up to 70 pounds, while following safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality standards in a production-based environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in mechanical work or mechanical assembly involving testing and troubleshooting.
- Minimum 3 months of experience with hydraulic testing and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in disassembly, repair, and assembly of mechanical components.
- Ability to use and interpret basic blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues with rebuilt cylinders.
- Capability to perform data entry of daily activities into a company database.
- Ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds as part of daily duties.
- Must provide and use personal mechanic tools.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with mining or heavy industrial equipment components.
- Familiarity with production-based environments and meeting productivity expectations.
- Attention to detail in inspection, repair, and documentation.
- Strong commitment to safety practices when working with tools, equipment, and heavy components.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
This is a production-based environment with a standard schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Optional overtime may be available after the regular shift. You will work with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components using hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools, as well as referencing blueprints and schematics. The role requires frequent handling of heavy parts and equipment, including lifting up to 70 pounds.
The dress code includes jeans and a T-shirt, with steel-toe footwear required for safety.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billings, MT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
