Founded in 1954, Sterling Crane is a North American leader in the heavy lift industry, offering operated and bare rentals, sales, parts, and service. With over 1,000 units of modern lifting equipment, we need a CDL Crane Operator at Billings, MT.
The crane operator must safely operate cranes, maintain accuracy, and follow company procedures and customer requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities- Efficiently and safely operate a variety of specialized machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, ensuring proper selection and setup of crane, lift or hoist.
- Inspect and assess ground conditions and overhead obstructions.
- Maintain equipment through daily inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Maintain logs and records of operational activities.
- Communicate visually and via radio with ground operators per site safety regulations and respond to questions and instructions clearly and promptly.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers, and mobile cranes.
- Class A CDL.
- Pass post‑offer drug and physical screens and meet company background requirements.
- Dependable, reliable, and willing to work overtime when necessary.
- Maintain a current NCCCO Crane Operators License for qualified equipment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, materials, or instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, safety regulations, and maintain records.
- Team player with strong teamwork ability.
- Strong depth perception and quick reaction time.
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 65 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs regularly.
- Visual capabilities to follow hand signals, maintain logs, and operate machinery.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather, including extreme heat and cold.
