CARPENTER
Starts:
October 2026
Full Time; 12 month position; 40 hours/week;
Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Salary: $28.58/hour

Performs journeyman level work as a carpenter and hardware maintenance as assigned.

Plans, schedules and selects methods and materials for assigned work. Alters and repairs buildings, sheds, scaffolds, partitions, forms and other structures from blueprints, plans or sketches; repairs floors, screens, windows, sashes, doors, furniture, fixtures, stairs, cupboards, and roofs, buildings cabinets and furniture, installs and repairs locks, weather stripping, brackets for mirrors and draperies, linoleum, tile, gutters and down spouts; operates variety of power tools such as saw, jointers, lathes, sanders, planners, and boring and mortising machines, cleans, sharpens, maintains and repairs power and hand tools;

estimates material and time needed to complete jobs; supervises and instructs helpers; performs related work as required. Repairs panic bars, closers, locks, cuts keys and repairs all types of hardware.

KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of the practices, principals, methods and equipment used in keying systems, hardware installation and maintenance. Working knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, safety precautions, tools and equipment of carpentry trade.
ABILITIES: Ability to work from blueprints, plans and sketches; to estimate materials and time needed to complete job; to use hand power tools; to establish and maintain an effective and efficient keying system; to maintain effective working relationship with others.
EDUCATION
:
High school graduate / GED.
EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of four year carpentry apprenticeship program plus experience as a hardware mechanic or any equivalent combination of education or experience.
