DescriptionPosition Summary:
Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch Therapeutic Youth Mentor provides direct support, guidance, and mentoring to help youth develop coping skills, improve communication, and build positive relationships. Therapeutic youth mentors are role models that facilitate activities and work collaboratively with other team members to assist youth in reaching their goals.
Starting Salary Range: $16.19 - $18.22 per hour. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant's education and relevant experience.

- 21 years old or older
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance:
Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana. - High School Diploma or GED
- Driver's License to operate passenger vehicle.
Required Abilities/Skills
- Ability to relate and build rapport with youth therapeutically while serving as a positive role model.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain professional therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality with youth and families.
- Possess the ability to work with youth in multiple settings, such as individually and in groups.
- Ability to work in cooperation and collaboration with the treatment team.
- Ability to work 1:1 with youth, independent of other co-workers.
- Display regular, predictable, and reliable attendance at work.
- Excellent active listening skills
- The ability to complete forms within an electronic Medical Health Record System typing at least 35 words per minute while using a keyboard and mouse. (Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 products is a plus.)
- Demonstrate sound & ethical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate being self-motivated, self-disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking.
- Demonstrate the ability to think of their team over self and define success collectively rather than individually.
- The ability to effectively interact and communicate with others. These skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships, collaborating with colleagues, resolving conflicts, and navigating various social situations.
