Description

The Ted Lechner Youth Services Center provides pre‑trial detention for youth who have been incarcerated in a restrictive housing environment, as well as temporary housing for youth in a non‑restrictive shelter care environment. Responsibilities include performing routine supervisory work in the safekeeping of youth placed in secure detention and shelter care by enforcing rules, maintaining order, and monitoring activities.

Responsibilities (Examples)
  • Supervision of youth in a restrictive detention environment and shelter care facility.
  • Conduct intake interviews of youth and document youth behaviors and emotional status.
  • Provide basic care and supervision to youth.
  • Monitor and assess the behavioral and emotional characteristics of referred youth and provide additional supervision to prevent self‑harm as needed.
  • Regularly communicate orally and in writing any changes to youth to all members of the youth care facility.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field; or
  • Associate degree in a related field and two (2) years’ experience working with youth in crisis.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience totaling four (4) years in a closely related field will be considered.
Required Certifications
  • Valid Montana driver’s license.
  • CPR certification (within 6 months).
  • CPI certification (within 6 months).
  • Must pass driving and background check.
