Position Overview
Penske Truck Leasing in Billings seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This position is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, this role moves box trucks up to 26'; CDL Class A will include tractors and trailer movement. Position may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.
This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job that is suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income and looking to work anywhere from 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs.
Major Responsibilities- Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destinations at Penske locations or customer locations.
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report issues to the location manager if found.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- 2 years of driving experience required.
- 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required.
- Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
- CDL Class A license preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions is required.
- Ability to work independently, customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required.
- To comply with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)), this role requires English language proficiency.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- DOT-regulated position requiring a current driver qualification file, including a motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records from prior employers in the last 3 years. CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and are subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specified location, submit to a background investigation and drug screening are required.

- The associate must be able to see and hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- During duties, the associate must be able to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit. They must be able to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally.
- The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.
Salary: $23.00/hr - Class A CDL
Schedule: 6-8 hours daily, 3/4 days a week, AM shift
