Job Summary
Responsible for operating End Dump or Belly Dump with Trailer, Side Dump to transport materials in a safe and timely manner.
PrimaryJob Duties
- Safely operate Class A truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job sites, often driving on uneven or unfinished surfaces.
- Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and submit a report indicating truck condition.
- Maintain driver log according to ICC regulations.
- May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box.
- Perform daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out and inspecting for maintenance issues to communicate to the shop.
- Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
- Hook and unhook trailer, occasionally multiple times per shift.
- Tarp loads when needed.
- Clean spilled material or buildup off box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.).
- Verify that gates are closed.
- Assist construction crews while waiting to unload.
- Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch.
- Report information accurately and completely on daily time cards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork.
- Maintain and support a safe and harassment‑free work environment.
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance and attend required training.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
- Read maps and navigate to new locations.
- Be self‑motivated, a team‑player with excellent interpersonal skills; maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others.
- Work with minimum supervision, recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on that recognition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform possible night duty work when assigned.
- CDL Class A (tractor‑trailer). Preference for experience driving End Dump with Pup or Belly Dump with Pup, Side Dump.
- Must have and maintain a medical card, an acceptable driving record and required endorsements.
- General education, grammar and arithmetic.
