The Society for Precision Agriculture and Rural Innovation (SPARI) is a pioneering student-led scientific society focused on precision agriculture, sustainable farming, and rural innovation in India. Founded at Lovely Professional University (LPU), SPARI fosters collaboration among researchers, innovators, and emerging leaders in agriculture and rural development. The society promotes scientific inquiry, practical solutions, and community-oriented initiatives that address real-world challenges in rural ecosystems.

Role Description

The Officer role is a full-time position responsible for supporting SPARI’s programs, projects, and day-to-day operations. In this hybrid role, based in University, MS, the Officer will coordinate society activities on campus while also handling some tasks remotely from home as needed. Daily responsibilities include organizing events and workshops, liaising with student members and external partners, managing communications and documentation, and assisting in project planning and implementation.

The Officer will help maintain membership records, prepare reports and presentations, and contribute to outreach efforts to promote precision agriculture and rural innovation initiatives. The role involves close collaboration with faculty advisors, student teams, and community stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of SPARI’s objectives.

Qualifications
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and documentation efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication for emails, reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in agriculture, rural development, sustainability, or related scientific fields, with a willingness to learn and stay informed.
  • Proficiency with office productivity tools (such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations) and comfort with online collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment, with reliability in on-campus duties and remote tasks.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail in academic, project, or volunteer experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, rural development, environmental science, management, or a related discipline (or current enrollment with relevant experience) is preferred.
  • Experience in student organizations, community projects, or event coordination is an advantage.
