Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2027. We seek an outstanding organic/organometallic synthetic chemist who will establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, excel in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Individuals with expertise in any area of organic or organometallic chemistry, especially with research interests in synthetic chemistry of macromolecules and/or green/sustainable chemistry, and in those areas complementing active research programs in the Department, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and relevant postdoctoral experience in synthetic chemistry or a closely related field. The Department has 17 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 10 teaching faculty, and a vibrant graduate Ph.D. program. Construction of a new $175M STEM education facility was completed in 2024 fostering interdisciplinary opportunities to fulfill our commitment to excellence in chemical education.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a nationally recognized, externally-funded research program; provide mentorship for graduate and undergraduate researchers; demonstrate excellence in teaching; and perform service to the department, college, university, and community (  ).Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until an adequate applicant pool is established. Job Responsibilities:

Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses (lecture and laboratory), develop new courses as needed, and incorporate modern pedagogical practices.
