About the Agency:
Located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Biloxi, the MDMR manages all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands, and waterfront areas to provide optimal commercial, recreational, educational, and economic uses of these resources that are consistent with environmental concerns and social changes. Our mission is to enhance, protect and conserve the state's marine interests.

About the Position:
The Environmental/Natural Resources Specialist III will serve within the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources' Office of Coastal Restoration and Resilience (OCRR) and the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area (MGCNHA). This position will support a broad portfolio of coastal restoration, resilience, natural resource conservation, heritage, and community-based initiatives throughout Mississippi's six coastal counties. Responsibilities will include coordinating projects and partnerships;

assisting with state and federal grant programs; developing and managing project activities; researching and evaluating coastal and natural resource issues; preparing technical and programmatic materials; supporting public outreach and education; and working with local governments, nonprofit organizations, universities, federal and state agencies, and other partners to implement projects that protect and enhance Mississippi's coastal resources. The position will have the opportunity to work across both natural resource and heritage programs, including projects that connect conservation, recreation, education, economic development, and community resilience.

This is a Time-Limited (14) position.

Success in this position will require someone who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and move projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; the ability to interpret and apply grant requirements, policies, and technical information; and the ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of partners.

The position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to solve problems without waiting for someone else to provide every answer. A successful candidate will be comfortable working in a collaborative environment while taking ownership of assigned projects, meeting deadlines, documenting work, and representing OCRR and the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area professionally with communities and partner organizations.
