Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Administrator

Fully Remote | Full-Time/Eastern or Central Time Zone

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Administrator to own and operate an enterprise analytics platform built on Microsoft Fabric. This role is not focused on report or dashboard development; instead, it centers on platform administration, environment management, governance, security, and operational excellence across development, test, and production environments. The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on experience managing Fabric and Power BI at scale and acts as the connective tissue between business stakeholders, data teams, and cloud engineering.

You will ensure the analytics ecosystem is secure, scalable, cost‑effective, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Important Note for Applicants

Power BI and Fabric administration, governance, and platform operations are the focus of this role. Candidates whose primary experience is dashboard or report development only will not be a fit.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration & Governance

  • Administer Microsoft Fabric and Power BI environments, including capacities, work spaces, domains, and tenant settings
  • Define and enforce governance standards, naming conventions, and deployment controls
  • Configure and maintain role‑based access control (RBAC), Row‑Level Security (RLS), and Object‑Level Security (OLS)
  • Own One Lake architecture, permissions, and data access patterns
  • Partner with cloud security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise security and regulatory standards

Monitoring, Optimization & Cost Management

  • Use Fabric Admin and Capacity Metrics reports to track usage, performance, and adoption
  • Monitor platform health using Fabric Monitoring Hub, Azure Monitor, and security tooling
  • Optimize capacity utilization, scaling strategies, and cost controls
  • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and operational risks

Release Management, CI/CD & Automation

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Power BI and Fabric artifacts using Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub
  • Manage version control and release processes across environments
  • Automate administrative tasks using Power Shell, Admin APIs, and scripting
  • Support controlled deployments and rollback strategies

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to analytics, data engineering, and business teams
  • Translate business needs into platform standards and operational solutions
  • Provide guidance and best practices for enterprise Power BI and Fabric usage
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise data or analytics platforms
  • 2+ years of hands‑on Microsoft Power BI / Fabric administration experience, including:
  • Workspace and capacity management
  • Tenant‑level settings and governance
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Power BI, One Lake, Data Factory, etc.)
  • Proven experience with data governance, security models, and cloud cost management
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft certifications (Power BI, Fabric, or Azure‑related)
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
  • Exposure to enterprise‑scale data platforms (data lakes, lake houses, data mesh)
  • Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, or other compliance‑driven industries)
Soft Skills
  • Strong strategic and analytical mindset
  • Clear, confident communicator capable of influencing without authority
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, ownership‑oriented approach to platform reliability and governance
