Database Manager & Information Technology (IT) Support SpecialistThis role supports a federal healthcare environment by designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining enterprise database systems and related web technologies. Responsibilities include administering SQL and Oracle databases, developing database solutions, optimizing performance, and ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
As a member of the Information Technology team, the successful candidate will collaborate with system administrators, developers, healthcare professionals, and government stakeholders to support database infrastructure, web integration initiatives, and technical modernization efforts. The role serves as a technical liaison between Keesler Medical Center and the Defense Health Agency.
This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust clearance. The role is onsite at Keesler Medical Center, Biloxi, MS.
What You'll Do- Design, implement, administer, and maintain SQL and Oracle database environments.
- Develop, test, document, and maintain scripts and applications using programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, or similar.
- Support Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) database applications.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and database objects to improve system performance.
- Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and security while planning for future growth.
- Manage database dictionaries, user accounts, permissions, and security controls.
- Perform routine database backups, recovery testing, disaster recovery support, and data protection activities.
- Integrate databases with enterprise applications and web-based systems.
- Develop and maintain intranet and internet services supporting healthcare operations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend software solutions, tools, and best practices to improve operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot database, application, and integration issues while providing timely technical support.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams, government personnel, and external vendors to support ongoing projects.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for database and web development initiatives between Keesler Medical Center and the Defense Health Agency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Active Security+ certification (minimum requirement).
- U.S. citizenship.
- Active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Experience administering SQL and Oracle databases in an enterprise environment.
- Experience developing scripts or applications using one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, or Java.
- Experience with database security, performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Experience performing database backups, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of GOTS and COTS software environments.
- Experience integrating databases with enterprise applications and web technologies.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and collaboratively.
- Oracle Database certification.
